KINGSFORD - Marlene K. Leinen, 63, of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away at home on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, after a courageous two-year fight with stomach cancer.
She was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Kingsford.
Marlene worked beside her husband and children for many years to help grow the family business, I&M Machine & Fabrication Corp. Marlene also spent many years working for Kmart where she gathered many friends.
Marlene was a member of the Lighthouse Fellowship Church and through her lifetime she has been on many mission trips to foreign countries helping people and building churches. She was well-known for being a person who reached out to all with care, kindness and love. For that we will all remember her and her loving smile and pleasant ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Kathleen Larson; brother, Randy Larson; and sister, Jody Rose.
Survivors: her husband of 45 years, Thomas E. Leinen; two daughters, Brenda L. Shuey and Kelly M. Rivera; son, Tim E. Leinen; three sisters, Linda Meade, Chris Rousseau, and Laura Hummell; two brothers, Richard Larson and Kenneth Larson; seven grandchildren, Eric Shuey, Alexandra Shuey, Brandi Rivera, Joey Rivera, Sky Leinen, Shelbie Leinen, and Monty Leinen; and three great-grandchildren, Tristen Oldham, Maverick Leinen, and Kamden Lewis.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Joseph.
Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
