KINGSFORD - Cletus Bastian, 94, of Kingsford, passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
He was born March 26, 1918, in Gladstone, son of the late Adolph and Adeline (DeGroux) Bastian. He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1942 until being honorably discharged in 1945.
Cletus married Margaret Johnson on May 27, 1950, at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
They lived in Iron Mountain for a short time before moving to Marquette, where they owned and operated Rest A While Cabins. Cletus also worked during this time for Cliff Dow Chemical Plant in Marquette. After retirement, he went to work for KI Sawyer Air Force Base in the Water Treatment Plant until retiring a second time in 1980, at which time Cletus and Margaret moved back to Kingsford.
Margaret preceded Cletus in death on Feb. 15, 2010.
Cletus was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church of Kingsford. He was a very skilled woodworker and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers.
He is survived by one son, Thomas (Dorothy) Bastian of Columbus, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Harley Bastian and John Sharrock, both of Columbus.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Rev. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
