Belva Hanson

IRON MOUNTAIN - Belva Ruth Hanson, 84, was born into eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

She was born in Kingsford on April 23, 1928, to Ragnar and Loretta (Stoikes) Hanson. In 1946, she graduated from Iron Mountain High School and was employed by Clairmont Transfer for many years.

Belva enjoyed volunteering, crossword puzzles, playing cards and writing and receiving letters to and from her relatives (especially her nieces and nephews) and friends, visiting with people, reading, travel and giving her visitors tours of the local area.

She is survived by her sisters, Faye LaVarnway, Colleen Schmitt, Jean Hinz, and Sharon (Richard) Toth; sister-in-law, Patricia Hanson; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Hanson; sister, Sr. Loretta Jean Hanson O.P.; brothers-in-law, James LaVarnway Sr., John Schmitt, and Thomas Hinz; and her niece, Patti Kay Rose.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Hyland Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support, and to her relatives and friends for taking the time to visit her at Hyland.

Dear Sis and Auntie Sissy, we love you and will treasure all the wonderful memories we have of you in our hearts. Until we are reunited with you in heaven, love and prayers from your family.
