IRON MOUNTAIN - Valeria E. Fraumeni, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.
She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Alpha, daughter of the late Volney and Lillian (Nelson) Vassar.
Valeria married Harry Sherman on Jan. 9, 1943, in Crystal Falls and he died in action on the Island of Lahti in the Philippines during World War II.
She then married Fred Milliron on Nov. 17, 1947, in Florence, Wis., and he preceded her in death in 1960.
She lived in Paramount, Calif., where she was employed as a waitress for many years before moving back to the area in 1978.
Valeria married Frank Fraumeni in California and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1982.
She enjoyed doing needlepoint, painting sun catchers, gardening, traveling, and socializing.
Valeria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and family members never left her house empty handed.
Valeria is survived by three grandchildren, David Milliron, LeAnne Milliron and John Milliron; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois DuCharme and Linda (Morris) Erickson; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Milliron; two brothers-in-law, Russell Peterson and Eli Hogan; and several nieces and nephews.
In additions to her parents and husbands, Valeria was preceded in death by her son, Joe Milliron; three brothers, Volney, Jack and Terry Vassar; and four sisters, Edna Woods, Marion Anderson, Nell Hogan and Shirley Peterson.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
