Ella Alfredson

NORWAY- Ella D. Alfredson, 92, of Norway, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born in Aurora, Wis., on Dec. 28, 1919, the daughter of the late Camiel and Stephanie (Van Gasse) Van Pembrook.

She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1937.

Ella married Iver Alfredson on July 26, 1941, in Norway, she worked side-by-side with Iver on the family dairy farm in Waucedah raising six children. Iver preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1974.

Ella was a member of the Community Bible Chapel, where she served as the church secretary and treasurer for many years; the Women's Missionary Fellowship; Mission Committee; and the Christian Womens Club. She was also a member of the Norway-Vulcan Senior Center. Ella enjoyed her flower garden, knitting, baking and crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.

Ella is survived by her sons, Gerald (Janis) Alfredson of Nobelsville, Ind., Carl (Suellen) Alfredson of Muskegon, Mich., Elliot (Mary Ellen) Alfredson of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Peter (Pamela) Alfredson of Norway; daughters, Judith (Ronald) Lundamo of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Joyce Nault of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Lori (Raghu) Viswanathan, Brian (Christy) Alfredson, Rhonda (Kristian) Pickrell, Mark (Meredith) Lundamo, Christina (Steve) Bartolac, Andy (Heidi) Nault, and Katie, Donny, Joanna, Olivia and Eric Alfredson;13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Theodore, Adolph, Edmund, Joseph, Donald and August Van Pembrook, and her sisters, Mary Ann Edlebeck, Annie Neveau, Emily Anderson and Norma Provencher.

Ella cherished her children, grandchildren, and her church family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Community Bible Chapel.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Lonnie Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
