CRYSTAL FALLS - Paul A. Santi, 82, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Enrico and Elizabeth (Cavalieri) Santi. Paul grew up on the north side of Iron Mountain.
He married Renja Rosenlund on March 24, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1997.
At age 15, Paul entered the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he traveled the country. He worked in many of the local mines, was a merchant marine in the Great Lakes, worked in construction tunneling, and was a local businessman. He also worked at Groveland Mine as a boiler operator, retiring after 15 years there.
Paul was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting, watching all sports, especially the Packers, and wintering in Florida Paul especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Paul will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by five sons, Clifford Santi of Crystal Falls, Ken Santi, of Crystal Falls, Michael Santi of Venice Beach, Calif., Richard (Lisa) Santi of Crystal Falls, and Raymond (Renee) Santi, Thompson, Mich.; two daughters, Shirley (Ray) Gagnon of Milwaukee, Carol Hebert of Crystal Falls; one brother, Joe (Janice) Santi of Iron Mountain; one sister, Lorraine Keller of Iron Mountain; 15 grandchildren, Sheri (Paul ), Christopher, Cindy (Wayne), Trisha, Jaime, Leonard, Robin (Mark), Jesse, Josh, Toni Lu, Paul, Zachary, Mason, Ella, and Brynn; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a special friend, Bridget Noch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by one brother, James Santi.
The visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home of Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.
