NEGAUNEE - Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a methamphetamine production site located in a wooded area of Marquette Township off Forestville Road, officials said today.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post responded at approximately 8:10 a.m. today at the request of Marquette Township Fire Department firefighters, who located methamphetamine production components at the scene of a reported brush fire.

The fire was likely started from an attempt to "cook" methamphetamine in the wooded location, troopers said.
