IRON MOUNTAIN - Eugenia "Jean" M. Montowski, 96, of Bristol, Tenn., formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at her home in Bristol.
She was born on May 28, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Ciesla Koziol.
She married Joseph Montowski on May 30, 1937, in Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago and moved to Iron Mountain in 1985 to retire. Joe preceded her in death in 1989. Eugenia was very dedicated to her family, tending to their every need.
She was a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, and gardening. She loved to sew, crochet and go on bus trips with her friends from the senior center.
Eugenia lived in Iron Mountain until moving to Bristol, Tenn., in 2001, to live with her daughter. While in Iron Mountain, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Bonita (William) Lindstrom of Spread Eagle, and Patricia (Robert) Engebretsen of Bristol, and to her dear son, Robert Montowski, who preceded her in death in 1954. She was the beloved grandmother to her five grandchildren, James Taylor, Robert (Melissa) Archer, Gary (Kathy) Archer, Cynthia (Dorian) Stanley, and David (Karen) Lindstrom, and her three great-grandchildren, Craig Archer, Madeline Stanley, and Kyla Lindstrom.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor James Kaczmarek will celebrate the Mass.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
