KINGSFORD - Pearl Ida Scott, 93, of Kingsford, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Louis and Hannah Goetzke Hermann.
Pearl graduated from Harper High School in Chicago. Pearl was a secretary for Lions International in Oak Brook, Ill., for many years.
In 2006. Pearl moved to Kingsford from Ottawa, Ill. She was a member of the Merry Belles (a group of lifelong friends and classmates), Trinity United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed family gatherings and being with her grandchildren. Pearl also liked to sew, knit, collect dolls, read, garden, and play cards. She also was a fan of Wheel of Fortune.
She married Vernon Heft in Chicago on Sept. 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1953.On Dec. 28, 1956, she married Patrick Scott in Chicago. He preceded her in death in Dec. 11, 1988.
Pearl is survived by three children, Vernon Robert (Katie) Heft of Ottawa, Joanne Shirley Rowell of Kingsford, and Susan Claire Hogan of Romeoville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Beth (Jay) Hellman, Scott (Sarah) Rowell, Mike (Sharon) Hogan, and Katie Hogan; and four great-grandchildren, Ben, Chelsea, Grace, and Daniel Hellman.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hermann, and two sisters, Emily Bergstrom and Shirley Hermann.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Paul Mallory will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Ties Adult Day Care, 800 Crystal Lake Blvd. in Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801.
