MARQUETTE - During an investigation into the disappearance of a Marquette man, Marquette Police uncovered an unidentified body at the abandoned building at 231 W. Washington St., Friday afternoon.
Police Chief Mike Angeli has confirmed a "badly decomposed" body had been located in the building during a search for 34-year-old Shawn Michael Dollar, who was reported missing on Sept. 13, and who had last been seen on Sept. 8.
He was last seen at approximately 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, by family and friends as he socialized in the downtown Marquette area.

Angeli said it had not been determined whether the body that was found was connected to Dollar's disappearance.
"We've got what appears to be a deceased person," Angeli said. "That (the search for Dollar) is what led us in this direction."
Angeli said investigators were waiting for the arrival of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab before gaining entry into the building.
Earlier, a group of roughly 50 people gathered Friday afternoon and was separated into search parties to look for Dollar.
Organizers brought fliers with a photo of Dollar in the clothing he was last seen in: a blue plaid shirt, blue jeans and a faded Detroit Tigers baseball cap, though he is not wearing the cap in the photograph.
The flier states Dollar is 6 feet, 1 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
