Rev. David Anderson rakes leaves outside his home on East A Street in Iron Mountain. Beginning mid-September and stretching through the end of October, the colors of autumn peak at varying times in Michigan. In the far western Upper Peninsula, peak colors are mid-September to early October, while peak color in the south-central U.P., including Dickinson and Iron counties, are late September to mid-October. Fall color in the U.P. typically changes inland first and out toward the Great Lakes later. Percentage color change will reflect the range inland to shore across the region. For the coming weekend, viewers will see mostly early color with peak conditions predicted to be in the 25 percent range, Michigan tourism officials said.
