IRON MOUNTAIN - A teen was taken into custody for joy riding after police were dispatched to a stolen vehicle complaint at 12:10 a.m. today.

Iron Mountain Police were dispatched to the 700 block of South Kimberly Avenue in reference to a vehicle that was stolen from the driveway of a residence a short time earlier.

Lt. Ed Mattson said that at approximately 2 a.m., officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 2 near Walmart.

The 15-year-old male driver was taken into custody for unlawful driving away of an automobile (joy riding), driving without a license and transporting open intoxicants.

Mattson added the juvenile will be petitioned into probate court after review of the formal complaint by Dickinson County Prosecutor Stephanie Brule.

An adult female passenger was cited for possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and released at the scene.

Assisting on scene were the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department and the Kingsford Public Safety Department.
