Police search for Peshtigo burglar

MARINETTE, Wis. - Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reported that on Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. his department was notified of a residential burglary that was interrupted by the homeowner coming home for lunch.

The homeowner described the suspect as five feet, six inches tall to five feet, nine inches tall with a stocky build, sandy brown hair, and a mustache.

The suspect was wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.

The homeowner and the suspect struggled and the homeowner struck the suspect on the head.

The suspect escaped into a wooded area in the direction of Peshtigo, Wis. He was last seen crossing U.S. 41 on foot towards Bechtold Drive.

Officers and K-9 units lost the trail of the suspect in this area.

Sauve would like to remind area residents to please lock their homes and safeguard their property when away from their homes for any length of time.
