Wishigan:Felch tips Kings
FELCH - Wade Holsworth pitched out of a seventh-inning jam and Felch edged Kingsford 4-3 in Wishigan Baseball League play at Memorial Field.
Felch plated single runs in the first through four innings for a 4-1 advantage. Kingsford scored a run in the second inning, added two in the sixth and loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning.
Felch third baseman Cody Berg knocked down one ball to prevent a seventh-inning run and Holsworth caught a pop-up to end the game.
Holsworth allowed seven Kings hits, fanned four and walked two. Kingsford pitcher Gary Miller permitted nine hits.
Lane Holsworth powered Felch with a triple, double and single. Bill Tuck produced a double and single, and Adam Oslund doubled.
Felch (5-1), holding down second place in the Wishigan, hosts Negaunee Tri-City at noon Sunday, July 8, for a doubleheader. Kingsford (0-5) takes on Escanaba in a single contest beginning at 1 p.m.
Marinette (5-0) heads the Wishigan, followed by Felch (5-1), Crivitz (4-2), Negaunee (3-3), Menominee (1-2), Gillett (1-3), Escanaba (2-5) and Kingsford (0-5).
