MILWAUKEE - Rodney Sparapani of Kingsford was one of 38 students to receive a doctor of philosophy degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee at its 99th annual commencement exercises at the Milwaukee Theater.

Dr. Sparapani is the son of Richard and Barbara Sparapani. He received his master of arts degree from Marquette University, in 1991.

His dissertation was entitled, "Generalized Linear Mixed Models in Health Services Research with Large Data Banks: A Bayesian Implementation," and his adviser at the Medical College was Purushottam W. Laud, Ph.D., professor of biostatistics.

Founded in 1893, the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee has a fourfold mission: education, discovery, patient care and public and community health.

The Medical College is Wisconsin's only private medical and health sciences graduate school providing education and training to more than 1,265 students.

As the largest private non-profit research institution in the state, the Medical College conducts more than $161 million annually in research.
