Three-vehicle accident on H Street near River Avenue

IRON MOUNTAIN - Three area residents were treated at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in a three- vehicle accident that occurred on East H Street near River Avenue on Friday.

Iron Mountain Police were called to the accident at approximately 4:41 p.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driven by an 87-year-old woman from Iron Mountain was eastbound on East H Street and struck the rear of a vehicle that was stopped on East H Street waiting to turn onto River Avenue.

Police Chief Peter Flaminio said the vehicle that was rear-ended - operated by a 55-year-old woman from Vulcan -crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle traveling westbound.

The third vehicle was operated by a 56-year-old woman from Kingsford.

All three drivers were transported to the hospital by Beacon Ambulance for treatment.

Two vehicles were towed from the scene.

The 87-year-old female was issued a citation for being unable to stop in an assured clear distance.

Iron Mountain Police were assisted on scene by the Kingsford Public Safety Department, Iron Mountain Fire Department and Beacon Ambulance Service.

Department of Veterans Affairs Police also helped patrol traffic from H Street to Cedar Avenue during investigation and cleanup of the accident.
