NIAGARA, Wis. - Northern Stars U19 boys lead the East Central Soccer League.
Stars show a 5-1-1 record for 16 points, with an 18-5 goal difference.

North Dickinson rallies late for win
IRON MOUNTAIN - North Dickinson capitalized on a pitching change and defeated Iron County 7-1 in Little League Senior baseball.
Iron County's Joel VanLanen gave up three hits, fanned six and walked five before running out of pitches in the sixth inning. North Dickinson then snapped a 1-1 tie with a six-run blast.
ND pitchers Derek Wagner and Brad Gustafson allowed three hits, whiffed five and walked two.
... In Kingsford major baseball, Dairy Queen defeated Econo Foods.Leading DQ was Aden Johnston with a triple, double and a single. Jordan Monosso also doubled.Luke Terrian and Andrew Paupore didn't allow a hit while fanning seven and issuing three walks.
... Protech majors knocked off the Kingsford Lions 3-1. Austin Vanpembrook struck out nine batters and smacked a two-run inside-the-park home run. Al Linn added a double. For Lions, Logan Normand had a single, and Jacob Henes hit two singles. Henes and Daunte Fortner pitched.
...Goodman Armstrong Creek defeated Aurora Schnieder Iron and Metal 8-7 in another major contest, with Colby Nelson scoring the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Aurora fought back early in the sixth inning with five runs to tie the game. Aurora's Mike Dishaw and Josh Broulliere each scored two runs. Briar Nichols scored two runs for GAC. Also scoring for GAC were: Rachel Braaten, Stan Maruszczk, Jacob Bousley, Paul Millan, and Caleb Nelson.
...In more major baseball, the Florence Bobcats fought off a late rally by Pietila Insurance to win 8-7. Pietila jumped out to a quick lead on a Chance Metras 3three-run home run in the first inning. Bobcats answered with five runs in the second and had an 8-4 lead entering the bottom half of the sixth. But a determined Pietila team scored three times and the tying run was thrown out at third base. Nate Krueger was the winning pitcher, and his three singles along with Wes McLain (single, double) and Glenn Berry (2 singles) led the Bobcat offense. Ethan LaVarnway (single, 2 walks, HBP) scored three times and Metras added a single to go with his home run for Pietila Insurance.
... In junior/senior softball, Kingsford Arms of Angels handled Norway Thirsty Whale 13-3. Angels pitchers Sammie Zander and Amber Larson combined to keep Norway to two hits. Leading hitters for the Angels were Zander and Larson along with Lorna Caron and Zoe Ketola. Norway's hits came from Rachel Conery and Taylor Hulce.
In major softball, Norway Champion Concrete Crushers were a 16-5 winner in a rematch with Kingsford Arms of Angels. Behind the strong pitching of Lilly Van Loon and Kayte Casanova, Norway held Arms of Angels three up and three down for two scoreless innings. The Crushers bats came alive with hits from nearly all team members. Arms of Angel's Abby Tomasoski had a three-run home run.
