There was an added incentive to Iron Mountain High School girls soccer practices.
Mountaineer coach Jim Laydon handed out Tootsie Roll Pops for exceptional plays
"It starts off as a joke but by the end of the practice they will strike blood for a lollipop," Laydon said with a chuckle.
The Mountaineer coach figures he's gone through three or four bags this season, with seniors MaKayla Berger and Allie Frorenza the leaders.
Although Laydon recalled that sophomore Kristen Gendron turned in a "real good practice" including a hat trick in one scrimmage.
"She followed me to the car after practice," he said. "She said, 'This is my first hat trick in three years Mr. Laydon. Don't think you're getting away without my lollipops." ...
