Senior Expo at Pine Grove

IRON MOUNTAIN - Several speakers will present interesting and informative information at The Daily News Second Annual Senior Expo at Pine Grove Country Club on Wednesday.

Traci Charette, advertising manager at The Daily News, said the doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the first speaker is at 10 a.m. with the last speaker finishing by 3 p.m.

Speakers include representatives from Great Northern Home/Pine Crest, The Drug Store, Golden Living Center, Miracle Ear, U.P. Rehab Services, Dickinson County Healthcare System, Manor Care, Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, G.A.F. Financial, and Marquette General Health.

Dr. James Surrell, director of Digestive Health Clinic at MGH, has a special interest in nutrition and weight loss programs.

The author of SOS (Stop Only Sugar) Diet book, Surrell's plan is short and simple with three rules: (1) low sugar, (2) high fiber and (3) no more rules.

Phil Miziniak, physical therapist and board certified wound specialist for Dickinson County Healthcare System, will provide oversight of the new Wound Care Center.

W.B. Carlson, medical director of the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Dickinson Occupational Clinic will also speak, among many others.

Tickets for the event have already been handed out. Those who wish to attend and did not receive a ticket should be at the event at 9:50 a.m.

Attendees will be admitted without a ticket if there are any vacant seats.

"The event promises to be very informative for all those in attendance," Charette said.
