No type of map

May 2, 2012
The Daily News

EDITOR:I have the perfect community service project if any group is looking for one.

I belong to a group of world wide volunteers who take photographs of burial markers. This is done to assist people who are researching their genealogy and live out of the area or even out of the country.

Many of the cemeteries in the area have no type of map readily viewable.

While many of us are happy to spend our time and gas to help out others, we often have limited free time available for this.

Norway Cemetery is a great example of a search-friendly cemetery. The sections are marked by a wooden post and there is a map at the entrance that shows where each section is.

It doesn't need to be fancy but please, help us so that we can help others.
