Seeds of division

May 2, 2012
The Daily News

EDITOR:I want to begin this letter with quote from a great president, Abraham Lincoln. It's very appropriate for today.

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weal by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discovering thrift. You can not lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You can not build character and courage by taking away peoples incentive and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves."

You now have a president who compares himself to Lincoln who is professing an doing just the opposite. He is fomenting class warfare and surrounding himself with radicals by making them "czars."

Benjamin Franklin, one of this country's founders said, "I am apprehensive that the government in future times end in a monarchy. But this catastrophe, I think, may be long delayed, if in our proposed system we do not sow the seeds of contention, faction, and tumult by making our posts of honor places of profit."

Do you see some of your freedom being taken? Do you see the seeds of division being sowed daily? Are we being urged to envy what others have? Are we being told that we should be expecting free money?

This next presidential election is crucial if we are going to restore our country to greatness.
