FLORENCE, Wis. - Elcho erupted for 15 runs over the final five innings and defeated Florence 16-7 in Northern Lakes Conference softball Monday.
Coach Dan Robinson's Bobcats pulled ahead 6-1 after two innings. The Hornets responded with six runs in the third frame, two in the fourth, two in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Bobcats pitcher Kasey Roff allowed 13 hits, struck out six and walked two. The Florence defense made six errors.
"Bright spot" Bailey Johnson, one of three Florence freshmen starting, spanked three of the Bobcats' seven hits. Mallory Lund added a double while Alix Loker, Jenny Goeman and Roff each singled.
Florence (2-3 NLC) hosts Crandon today in a doubleheader and gets another chance at Elcho on Thursday.
