The Daily News

IRON MOUNTAIN - The Dickinson-Iron Technical Education Center's Robotics Club DITEC_A.R.M.E. competed in the VEX Robotics championship in Anaheim, Calif., April 18- 21.

The competition included 400 high school teams from 16 countries in four divisions.

The team finished 27th out of 99 teams with a 6-3-1 record.

Team members benefited by interacting with students and mentors from other parts of the country and around the world, a spokesperson said.

"Students enjoyed the experience as they met new friends and gathered new ideas that can be utilized in future competitions."

In addition, team members were exposed to the design and build challenge for 2012-13 and are already busy analyzing and preparing for next year.

Northern Star Industries, Iron River American Legion, Dickinson-Iron ISD Math, Science and Technology Dept., and the DIISD Board of Education supported and made this opportunity possible, club members said.

The DITEC_A.R.M.E. Robotics Club will be conducting a professional presentation at the DIISD Board of Education meeting May 9 at 6 p.m. at the Dickinson-Iron Technical Education Center, 300 North Blvd. in Kingsford.

The public is invited to attend.
