When the complainants, who were on ATVs, confronted the two male suspects, the suspects attempted to flee the scene in their trucks.
The suspects were later identified as Zachery Delaney, 21, of Escanaba, and Robert Westerlund, 22, also of Escanaba.
They were arraigned in Delta County District Court and lodge in jail.
In the process of fleeing, one of the suspects rammed an ATV that one of the complainants was sitting on, causing the complainant to jump from the ATV for his safety. The one suspect continued pushing the ATV with his truck until he was able to flee the scene.
As the second suspect fled the scene in his truck, the other complainant had to back her ATV behind a tree to avoid being struck.
With the assistance of the State Police K-9, both suspects were eventually located, arrested and logged in the Delta County Jail.
Numerous stolen items were recovered at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
The State Police Negaunee Post, Delta County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Forest Service, Gladstone Public Safety Department, and Escanaba Public Safety Department assisted with the investigation.
