EDITOR:I read the editorial about gun safety.
It talked about the mechanical safety and that this is important.
What is just as important is treating every gun as if it were loaded.
Never point the gun at anything you do not want to destroy (otherwise keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction).
Keep your finger off the trigger (out of the trigger guard) until you have identified your target.
Know your target and what beyond it. Keep your weapon in a safe place away from unauthorized users (children).
And remember alcohol and firearms don't mix.
A night of drinking at camp before going to your blind is not safe for you or other people in your hunting party.
Have a safe enjoyable and successful hunt.
