KINGSFORD - Quarterback Alex Herman and running back Taylor Huotari connected on a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes to send Iron Mountain past Kingsford 23-6 in the 87th meeting between the Twin City football rivals.
Herman-to-Huotari clicked for 37 and 61 yards at sun-splashed Flivver Field.
Flivver running back Reed Larson gained 188 yards on 18 carries including a 65-yard blast late in the first quarter that closed the deficit to 14-6. However, the junior back was checked to 15 yards on five trips in the second half.
Iron Mountain, winner of the past four varsity meetings, owns a 45-39-3 lead in the series.
