Councils, boards plan meetings

The Iron Mountain City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building, 501 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.

Old business includes approval to solicit bids for televising sewers and introduction and setting a public hearing for the dog waste ordinance.

New business on the agenda includes approval of a record retention policy, name change from Quincy Street to The Boss Way, resolution to execute a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Small Urban Program, discussion of the Downtown Development Authority survey and approval to bid for street paving and water service replacements.

An executive session is planned to discuss the manager evaluation.

The Kingsford City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room, located upstairs in the city hall building, 305 S. Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford.

The agenda includes an engineer's analysis of storm water outfall area north of the Riverdale development under old business and a five year capital fund plan for the Kingsford Housing Commission under new business.

A public hearing is also planned at 6:45 p.m. by the zoning board of appeals regarding property at 120 Parkway St.

The Breitung Township Schools Board of Education will meet today at 7 p.m. in the the board room of the administration building, 2000 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

Reports will be given by Well Fargo on the McNeil Scholarship update, and the finance committee.

New business includes a resolution for local district vote on the ISD budget, gifts, copier award and Race to the Top Memorandum of Understanding.

An executive session is planned to discuss negotiations.

The Norway City Council will meet today at 7 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building.

The Florence County School District Board of Education will meet today at 6 p.m. in the high school, Room 207.

New business on the agenda includes a discussion/consideration of health insurance renewal for the 2010-11 school year with a change in the PPO network, discussion of recycling program and refuse disposal, report regarding student achievement, and a consideration of 2010-11 agreement with the School District of Niagara.

A closed session is planned to discuss bus maintenance and coordination of bus routes, review of contracting busing services, 2010-11 school calendar and consideration of staffing/contracts/compensation.

The Florence County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the commissioners' room in the Florence County Courthouse.
