H1N1 vaccine available locally

POSTED: November 5, 2009

KINGSFORD - The H1N1 vaccine for pregnant women is now available at their prenatal care provider or through the health department in Dickinson and Iron counties..

The health department has a limited supply of H1N1 vaccine which is restricted to the following groups:

*Children aged 6 months to 4 years

*Persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age

*Children and adolescents aged 5 -18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications, for example, diabetes, asthma, heart disease or neurological disease.

Please call the Health Department at (906) 774-1868 or (906) 265-4150 for an appointment only if you are in one of these groups.

As more H1N1 vaccine becomes available we will be able to offer it to other priority groups. Please continue to check our website at www.didhd.org or call the Health Department for updated information.

Blackhawk, I haven't had the flu shot in over 20 years and I wish I'd gotten one this year because I was out of work 6 days between last week and monday of this one with the flu. Picked it up traveling for business and it really sucked. But of course this is just another liberal scare tactic to turn us into socialists and take control of every industry in the country so Obama can become king of the world isn't it? Hopefully after a year or two of this administration the hot air will all escape from you and you can talk like a rational human being.

Nevermind, misread that. I see where someone could be confused by that.

Pregnant women can get it through their OB-GYN. The restrictions listed are getting it through the Health Department.

I haven't taken a flu shot in the last 4 years and never got the flu. So this is no different than the old run of the mill type. Just another scare tactic.

The first paragragh states that it's available for pregnant women, but then the restriction exclude them. So is it available to them or not.
