Florence fire dept is one of the best! These guys give it all for the people and this is how they are talked about? Disregard all this bs guys, if my house was on fire theres no one else I'd rather have on my side than the Florence fire dept! You people making rude comments should be ashamed!

If you look at my post on 11/03/09 @ 2:10, I said some of the properties should be torn down, not burned down. I realize fireman put their lives on the line everytime they jump on that truck, let alone run into a burning building. I commend them for volunteering their time and taking time away from their families or going to calls in the middle of the night. You are to be commended for your efforts.

reading what you said you are not a friend

Okay, first of all, I wasn't "slamming" the fire department. It's a "round town" saying because there aren't enough fireman on the department and think it should be a fulltime job for some of them so they could be on staff and not have to wait until there are enough people on the truck to go to the fire. Second, Wisconsin native, I don't know who you think I am and I don't know what you're talking about. I have many friends that are on the fire department and think they do a fine job. I guess my post of "another basement saved" was taken in the wrong way. I appologize for any controversy I may have caused.

I agree with the last two comments: but do not cut down hard working voluteers who give their lives, give up family dinners, holidays and time at home to work to help save lives and homes. Because we will come at you with everything we have. I may haved moved here but I appreciate our dedicated voluteers!

I agree with BrieAnne, this man was like family to a lot of us. He would do anything for anybody and all you people care about is bashing a volunteer organization. I would like to thank everyone from all of the organizations that responded to the fire today. If it weren't for the volunteers in this town there would be no one to respond to incidents like these. Don't forget donations will be accepted at Leff's Sports Bar to help this man with this tragic situation.

I find the comments on this article to be exhausting, sad, and absolutely amazing. Rather then reaching out, showing care, and concern, to the hard working man who would give you the shirt off his back, you argue, and focus on false negative opinions. For those who would like to help, rather then point fingers, donations will gladly be accepted at Leff's on Keyes Lake in Florence, WI. Thanks this man is like family and deserves all the help and support that we can give

FLORENCE VIRE AND RESCUE, THANK YOU ALL AHND GREAT JOB TODAY!! First, at least the man who lived there was not injured. Second, from the time the 911 call went in to the time the FVFD got to the house was not too long and there was already black smoke shooting from the house. It does not take long at all for an old house to be destroyed by a fire. Third, how dare ANYONE cut down the Volunteers of ANY organization who try to protect the community or make the community a better place. I agree with PROUDVOLUNTEER 100%. I do not know what it is like to run into a burning building but I know many people who do. Those people deserve respect, whether you like them personally or not. If you feel you do not have to respect or acknowledge what the volunteers of this community do and your house is ever on fire don't bother to call 911, let it burn. Afterall, they will only save your basement right???

To the useless low life that have no clue what it takes to go into a burning building, just remember carma's a beotch! You have no clue what we do, it takes a lot to go into a buring building with amo going off and not knowing if or when the place is going to blow. We put our lives on the line to save people and there homes. WE get up in the middle of the night, fight fires all night and go to work in the morning. We don't always know if we're going to make it home to out significate others and our children. We volunteer because we care and have big hearts. If I died in the line of duty, I would go to heaven knowing that I did my best and could rest in peace. So before you judge, get off your dead *ss and give it shot.
