Care packages for the troops

POSTED: November 3, 2009

Volunteers donated their time recently to fill stockings for soldiers as part of the Eric Palmisano Care Package Project. LCpl Eric A. Palmisano, USMC, was killed in action in Iraq on April 2, 2006. Since then his mother, Bobbie Samme, and her husband, Herb, have continued to pack care packages for soldiers overseas. Shoppers filled up stockings at The Dollar Tree and Family Video in Iron Mountain as part of the "Stuff Our Soldiers' Stockings," a project organized by Denise Formolo of The Office of Community Corrections. All the filled stockings were donated to the Eric Palmisano Care Package Project, along with a check for $1201.59 to cover the cost of shipping for the items.
