John Mattson

FELCH - John P. "Jack" Mattson of Felch, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at the Jacobetti Center in Marquette.

He was born in Niagara, Wis., on Oct. 4, 1939, the son of the late Walter A. Mattson and Julia McCaffrey.

Jack was a veteran, who served three years in the U.S. Army. After college he worked as a state trooper and then taught school at North Dickinson. However, his love was working in the woods as a jobber.

He is survived by two sons, Tommy (Teri) Mattson of Quinnesec and Tad Mattson of Norway Lake and brothers, Ted (Fanny) Mattson of Kingsford, Larry (Kay) Mattson of Felch and Ron (Renee) Wicklund of Marquette.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim of Alaska; a sister, Carol J. (Gerald) Wickman of Iron Mountain; and brother, Don (Ruth Ann) Wicklund of Felch.

A family memorial service was held at the Jacobetti Center in Marquette.
