Joyce Campbell

POSTED: November 3, 2009

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Joyce A. Campbell, 65, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 11, 1944, to the late Alvin and Hulda (Hess) Elmquist in Ladysmith, Wis.

On Sept. 13, 1969, she married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Campbell in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2003.

Joyce was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed the many years of weekends and vacations spent at the cottage on Lake LaFave with her husband and children. Joyce's happiness grew even more so after retirement when she and Bob moved "up north" permanently. Their greatest joys were spending time with family and friends and watching their grandchildren multiply.

She was active with her church and was the founding queen mother of the Red Hat Society's chapter known as the "Krazy Lady's," which began in the Goodman-Armstrong Creek-Fence area.

Survivors include one daughter, Renee Campbell (fiance, Aaron Weigelt) of Green Bay; one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Dawn Campbell of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Matthew Nichols of Green Bay and Kyle, Ethan and Noah Campbell of Green Bay; one brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Kathryn Elmquist of Henderson, Nev.; a sister, Sandra Pukall of Spread Eagle, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Pukall.

Burial will take place in Cavour Cemetery in Cavour, Wis.

Private graveside services will be held prior to the burial with Pastor Kurt Schroder officiating.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gerald Bayer and Green Bay Oncology for giving them many more years with their mother and also to the 6th floor ICU of St. Vincent Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care of Joyce and her family.
