Champeau entertains at Golden K meeting
KINGSFORD - As the last Monday in October begins its place in history the Golden K Club gathered under the leadership of Bruce Stuart and honor the flag and sang "God Bless America."
Ruth Pollard and Alyce Derwinski teamed together and led the group singing, "I Can't Give You Anything But Love Baby," "Rockabye Your Baby" "Pretty Baby" and "Smile," we really like to sing and would be an asset to any church.
Lorraine Luba won the pot of gold, good, a hello to Clyde.
A sign up sheet for Salvation Army bell ringing was circulated among members, it is a worthwhile venture as war veterans will tell you.
The memorial service for Jack Hosking will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Golden Throats will gather at 10:30 a.m. full dress.
Paul Ward will coordinate bingo for November.
Al Galeazzi announced that the Iron Mountain High School jazz band will play for the group on Monday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. To accommodate their 11 a.m. classes.
Terry Champeau offered the following thought, "Never let the good Lord take you alive."
Chairman Bruce Stuart invited Terry "Shine" Champeau to entertain the group and he started with one he wrote entitled, "Big Old Goofy World" which contained a lot of truth.
He then sang "Waiting For A Train" in memory of Earl VanNess and "Micky" Mickelson, who were two close friends.
Sam Chartier joined in on the "Wabash Cannon Ball" and he then out did Johnny Cash with "A Rang of Fire" and "Folsom Prison."
Shine closed with another one that he wrote "The Little Shack Out in the Back."
Terry is best described as a man of great musical talent who makes you feel part of what he loves - to sing.
The group thanks Bruce Stuart for leading in October as Steve Soltis guides the group in November.
The Golden Throats will sing at Hyland Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m.
