Taking such a tough stance
It is sad to see that a few bad apples can cause the whole bushel to go sour, but that is what has happened this week at Escanaba High School. We hate to see it come to this drastic steps, but we support the administration in its actions.
Earlier this week, EHS went through its second bomb threat scare in about a month's time. After Monday's threat, the administration decided to lock the campus down for the rest of the week. This meant that no student could leave campus until the end of the school day.
We are sure whoever is behind this latest incident thought it was nothing but a prank. Maybe they like to see the police visit the school. Whatever the issue, it is no laughing matter.
When one looks back at recent history, such events as these are taken very serious and for good reason. The last thing we would want is no action to be taken on such a threat and find out later it was real.
Our schools have become targets for whatever reason. Either disgruntled students or some other deranged person seem to target our schools and put innocent lives in danger. Because of this, our safety forces investigate all these matters.
What we would like to see in these incidents is for the perpetrator or perpetrators be caught and prosecuted. Not only does this create undo stress on administration and public safety officials, but it also pulls these people off the streets where they may be needed.
We wonder if these people would like one of their loved ones to fall victim to a crime, only not to have police there because they were tied up with a false alarm at the high school? We don't think they would like it at all.
We applaud school officials for taking such a tough stance. We also sympathize for those who are being punished and not part of the problem. Either way, it is good to see action being implemented to try and stop this nonsense.
Life is stressful enough, we don't need to worry about some prank that a few like to pull on the rest of us. We hope they are caught and punished.

Honestly dont see any problem with the "lock down" there are a lot of schools that are closed campus. Hope they find the one making the threat and deal with them.
