Glen Gursky

CRYSTAL FALLS - Glen Arthur Gursky, 83, of Stager Lake Road, Crystal Falls, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Florence, Wis., after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Alpha, son of the late Thomas and Melvina (Arcand) Gursky.

On June 3, 1947, he married Blanche Ranta. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1997.

Glen attended Alpha School. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7569 of Alpha. He had been a member of the Wood Bee Carvers in Iron Mountain, Crystal Carvers and Weavers Guild in Crystal Falls. Glen was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Gursky of Crystal Falls; four sons, Glen (Pam) Gursky Jr. of Las Vegas, Mike (Marsha) Gursky of Iron River, David (Linda) Gursky of Mountain, S.C., Steve (Becky) Gursky of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Shawn, Aaron (Ericka), Charity, Yvonne, Sandy, Jason (Lana), Tonya, and Steven Gursky, Cheryl (Dammion) Masnova, Jessie Stapleton, Heather Coggeshall, Steffi (Brian) Dudrey, Brenda (Shawn) Pettyjohn; 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Roz Sullivan of Silver Lake, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Janette (Orvie) Snodie of Crystal Falls, Pearl Kelley of Ottawa, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Chuck (Jan) Ranta of Iron Mountain; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Elroy Gursky.

Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. Rev. Dino Silvestrini will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls with military rites accorded by the East Side Veterans Council.
