U.P. Trappers Association to meet Thursday

ESCANABA — District 3 of the U.P. Trappers’ Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern time) Thursday in Room 961 in the Heirman Center at Bay College in Escanaba.

On the agenda will be convention plans and decisions, an update on the last and final fur pickup of the season (which was run on May 10), and an update on the progress of the new Michigan Trappers Education Program.

Posters announcing the annual U.P. Trappers’ Association Convention to be held on July 18-19 at the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba will be available for members to take home and put up at businesses and places of employment in their respective towns.

All trappers are welcome.

U.P. Whitetails plans annual meeting

IRON MOUNTAIN — The U.P. Whitetails of Dickinson County general membership meeting will be held Wednesday, June 11, at the Downtown Plaza, 427 S. Stephenson Ave., Room 211, in Iron Mountain at 7 p.m.

Election of officers will take place. All nominations should be put in writing for the offices of president, vice, president, secretary and treasurer and mailed to:

Hunter safety class offered in Pembine

PEMBINE — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will offer a hunter safety class at the Pembine School on June 6, 12, 13, and 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on June 7, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Range day will be held on June 21, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Dunbar Sportsman Club.

Students must attend all class meetings to receive Hunter Safety Certification.

Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, must have a Hunter Safety Certificate to purchase any hunting license in Wisconsin. Although this class is designed for young hunters, parents and other interested adults are also encouraged to attend.

Students must pre-register at the Pembine Ranger Station or Mark’s Gun Shop in Dunbar at least one week in advance to attend this class.

Cost of the class is $10. Students with special needs should contact the Pembine Ranger Station at least two weeks in advance of the course to request special accommodations.
