Two injured in Florence crash

POSTED: May 12, 2008

FLORENCE, Wis. — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 2 in Florence County Saturday.

Florence County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 9:56 a.m. Saturday of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 2 east of north Lake Road.

Responding to the accident were the Florence County Sheriff’s Department, Florence County Fire Department and two units of the Florence County Rescue squad.

A 1997 Ford Expedition driven by a 44-year-old iron Mountain man was stopped to turn into a business when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 1998 Toyota pickup truck driven by a 45-year-old Niagara man, Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby said.

The driver of the Expedition and a passenger in the pickup truck were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital by ambulance, Rickaby said in a news release.

Their conditions were unknown today.
