IRON MOUNTAIN — A Kingsford man involved in a hit and run traffic accident on Saturday was arraigned in Dickinson County Court on Wednesday and will be sentenced June 26.
David Lee Hunt, 29, is charged with driving while license suspended, second offense and failure to stop at a property damage accident with an attended vehicle.
District Court officials said Hunt is due back in court for sentencing June 26.
The hit and run accident occurred on U.S. 141 near Breitung Avenue at approximately 11:25 a.m. Saturday. The driver of a small passenger car crossed the centerline heading southbound on U.S. 141 and struck the side of a northbound tractor trailer. The driver of the car exited and fled on foot.
Local agencies responded to assist in the search for the suspect driver. A search of the suspect vehicle and area provided evidence to the identity of the driver, as well as several eye witnesses’ accounts of the incident, according to police.
Court officials are not aware of any charges yet in a March 2 hit and run accident in Iron Mountain.
Police responding to a 911 call at 2:56 a.m. on March 2 found a male lying in the roadway at the intersection of East E Street and River Avenue.
The victim, Joe Tousignant of Iron Mountain, sustained serious injuries to his head, legs and lower body when he was struck by a vehicle and dragged approximately 140 feet, according to a police press release.
Tousignant, 39, has since been released from the hospital.
