Johnson waives hearing
By LISA M. HOFFMANN Staff Writer MARINETTE, Wis. — Dozens of family members of the victims of the East Kingsford train bridge shootings filled a Marinette County courtroom on Wednesday. They wore memorial T-shirts during a preliminary examination for the accused killer. Scott J. Johnson, 38, is accused of shooting three teens swimming in the Menominee River at the East Kingsford train bridge July 31. He appeared in court wearing a tan long-sleeved dress shirt. After Johnson waived his preliminary examination, arraignment was set for 3 p.m. Sept. 5. Circuit Court Judge Tim Duket told Johnson he was entitled to the assistance of a lawyer if he wanted one. Johnson’s reply was “yeah or no your honor” to all of the statements. None of Johnson’s family was present at the hearing. Johnson stands accused in the shooting deaths of Bryan Mort, Anthony Spigarelli and Tiffany Ann Pohlson on the Wisconsin-Michigan border.
