EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — U.P. Arctic Blast journey back to Eau Claire on Saturday for the Northern Elite Football League’s Eastern Conference championship game. Eau Claire socked Coach Bob Giannunzio’s Blast 42-0 in a weather-shortened June game at Norway’s Ronberg Field. The two teams closed out the regular season here last weekend, with the Crush struggling for a 6-0 halftime lead and pulling away for a 36-0 victory. “All in all, the results as compared to the first game were encouraging,” said Blast general manager Andy Bray. “It is tough to win on the road.” Blast’s Ty Denniston made his first start against the Crush. “Ty had limited success against a solid Eau Claire defense,” Bray said. “Most players were forced to play both ways and it showed in the overall results.” Blast highlights: — Chad Olson was responsible for the bulk of the offense, gaining 35 yards on 13 carries. — Defensively, Jeff Taff and Jon Gorzinski each recorded nine tackles.
