Breitung Township Schools reduces kindergarten class size
KINGSFORD — With some internal shifting of personnel, Breitung Township Schools will open a sixth section of all-day kindergarten this year, school officials announced. As a result, class sizes will be reduced to 19 and 20 students per class. “This action was taken to maintain consistency with the philosophy of the school board and district to provide the best possible learning environment for our students,” said Superintendent Craig Allen. “School personnel are confident that lowering class size at the kindergarten level will create a more effective learning environment for all students,” he said. “One-on-one instructional time will obviously increase.” The shift means that the school will be adding a part-time prep-kindergarten teacher. Applicants interested in filling morning prep-kindergarten position may submit a resume to Darren Petschar, Woodland Principal, by 3 p.m. on Thursday.
