Bowling is growing on me

November 18, 2011 - Marguerite Lanthier
Bowling isn’t my favorite sport. In fact, it wasn’t even in my top 10. Before I joined a bowling league three years ago, I’d only bowled about 10 times in my life. But it’s growing on me. I’m having my best year so far. My average is higher than it’s ever been, a whopping 111. In previous years it’s hovered around 100. It don’t really know if I do things correctly, as far as throwing and follow through. Well obviously I don’t, because there are times when I’m still throwing two gutter-balls in a row, but they are getting fewer in number. I only did it once the last time I bowled and it’s been a while since I did it before that. In some games it seems you can’t miss. I had three strikes in a row and even picked up the “hard one” — the far pin on the right side. (No I don’t know all the numbers.) Other games it seems like you can’t hit anything. It can be a lot of fun — sometimes a little too much. The women I bowl with are fun. We don’t get too uptight about winning. We grumble if we didn’t meet our averages. If it wasn’t fun I wouldn’t keep doing it. Maybe eventually I’ll figure out what I’m doing.
