More Halloween fun

October 25, 2011 - Marguerite Lanthier
Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. As anyone who has seen me out in the last few years can attest, I like to dress up — in very strange costumes. This year is no different and I may have topped my costume last year, when I dressed as a beer bottle with a pork chop inside. A lot of people didn’t get it. (I really thought the saying “a pork chop in every can or bottle” was a popular saying. We say it all the time.) I had a lot of fun making it though. I was more obscure the year before with my concept costume ‘stairway to heaven’. My execution was not where I wanted it to be, but I liked my idea. This year I was struggling to come up with an idea. I trolled the internet for funny, yet unusual and easy ideas. I didn’t really like most of them. Too simplistic for me. When I come up with an idea, it’s something a Hollywood costume designer would have trouble executing. I finally got an idea I wanted to incorporate into a costume and then in the wee hours of Sunday morning came up with the final idea. Now comes the fun part, trying to make it work. If the mess all over the house is an indication, I will be a success. We’ll all find out this weekend when I debut my weirdest idea yet.
