Weekend update

April 11, 2011 - Terri Castelaz
Well here it is — the update to the big weekend trip with friends, Dee, Chris and Tina to visit Lisa in Merrill. The weekend started out eventful as soon as we hit the Merrill city limits. As Dee was on the phone trying to get directions to Lisa’s house — since none of us bothered to even write down the address — we were welcomed to town with red and blue flashing lights. How nice of them to welcome us like that. You see, there was a speed limit sign flashing 38 mph. Dee thought that was a weird speed limit, 38, not dawning on her that it was her that was going 38 in a 25. Well that was until she saw the flashing lights. The nice young policeman approached the vehicle to find four hysterical women trying to compose themselves. He asked Dee if she knew why he pulled her over and of course she said yes, and also pleading in her sweet little voice that we were lost and trying to get to our friends house. (Oh and also that she has never gotten a ticket before in her life.) You had to have been there to know how funny this sounded because when he asked where she lived, not one of us could tell him the address. So as soon as he went back to his squad car we were on the phone getting that address. After he returned and we were able to tell him were we were going, this nice young policeman escorted us right to Lisa’s door. And ticket free too. The weekend continued to be great with a night of catching up until the wee hours of the morning with a few cocktails. The next day was filled with shopping, dinner and a movie. One of the highlights of the shopping trip to Wausau was Tina finding her big bobber floating cooler in Bed, Bath and Beyond. As we were walking out of the store that’s all that was heard was “OMG.” We all stopped dead in our tracks thinking something was seriously wrong, but to find out it was only Tina discovering her “big find.” She didn’t care she had to haul it back to Lisa’s on her lap because there wasn’t any more room in the trunk. (What do you expect five women shopping?) To make a long story short it was a great time and can’t wait to go again. It is always an adventure when my friends get together.
