Last week Lady Gaga’s newest single, “Born This Way,” became the most downloaded song, with 448,000 sales in digital alone in the opening week. It broke previous records of female artists including Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me,” which sold 411,000 upon its arrival. It also became the number song on Billboard's top singles chart. I like the Lady Gaga song, especially because I like “Express Yourself,” the Madonna song it sounds similar to. I don’t really care for Spear’s new song and I thought the video was stupid. Of course many people will disagree with me. Did you ever think about what makes you like a particular song? Why I might like something by Pearl Jam, and others think they suck? Why I like this song by the band best, but my friend likes that one? How you can not like a particular genre and then hear one song that you like? I’m sure there are taxpayer funded studies out there somewhere trying to find the answer, but for now it remains a mystery.
