Summer in the U.P.

July 30, 2014 - Blaine Hyska
So much to do, so little time.

Isn’t that the case every summer?

We’ve had the Bass Festival in Crystal Falls, Polish Festival in Goodman-Armstrong Creek, Saturday in the Park at City Park, the Upper Peninsula Championship Rodeo in Iron River, the U.P. Firefighters Tournament in Quinnesec, the Niagara Centennial, the Badwater Bash in Spread Eagle, the list goes on and on.

I generally try to attend these community celebrations. They’re great fun. Some years I’ll attend two or three, other years I’ll go to a couple of other ones.

They’re part of summer in the U.P.

You’ve got to tip your hat to the organizers and volunteers responsible for putting on the show. They’re enthusiasm is impressive.

But there’s no time for nostalgia.

We’ve got the Italian Festival, Pembine Centennial, Aurora Mudd Runs, Keyes Peak Summerfest, Wood Tick Festival, Marinette County Fair, Iron County Fair, Dickinson County Fair, and Florence County Fair ahead.

The list goes on.
