Bowling champs

April 21, 2014 - Marguerite Lanthier
Bowling season ended recently and something happened to our team that hasn’t happened before — we won. Yes, we won the league title after a bowl-off between the first place winners from the first half, and the winners from the second half — us. After finishing fourth out of six teams in the first half, we didn’t have high expectations. But suddenly we found ourselves in front after a few weeks. We kept waiting to drop to second or third, but our lead only grew. Then just when we were starting to think we could keep that lead, bad luck struck. Our best bowler hurt her knee and couldn’t bowl for four weeks. She couldn’t return until the final two weeks. Our lead had dropped to two points by the final week, with two teams tied for second. Luckily we won enough games in the final week to take the second half title by one point. I would have been happy even if we lost the overall title. I just didn’t want to lose the second half title in the last week.
