Tech coach 'defensive'

April 4, 2014 - Burt Angeli
Michigan Tech men’s basketball coach Kevin Luke has a problem with the other GLIAC coaches.

They somehow overlooked MTU’s Troy Hecht, a 6-foot-3 guard from Vassar Mich., for the GLIAC all-defensive team. Senior guard Alex Culy did make the defensive unit for a third time.

“I am disappointed in our (GLIAC) coaches,” Luke told The Mining Gazette. “I am disappointed in our coaches' decisions. There are guys on other teams, where they had 10, 12, 15 losses and they got two guys. I don't see how any coach in America can do that, and our league did that. I am disappointed in them. I don't even think I am selfish in saying that.

“He (Hecht) deserved to be there. All you had to do is watch tape a little bit and you can see who we are putting on their top guy. This is not a rocket science profession. He deserved to be on that team.”
