Black bear envy

January 27, 2014 - Blaine Hyska
This year’s bitter cold winter makes you envious of black bears. At least they get to hibernate during all of this cold weather.

Actually, there are some good things about the cold weather.

1) The snow is a lot lighter when it’s below zero. At least that’s my unscientific theory. Maybe I’m just getting used to shoveling.

2) The people of the U.P. will sure appreciate that first 60-degree day. Unlike Hawaii and South Florida, it will be cause for celebration.

The worst thing about this winter, besides the cold, is that there really isn’t anything we can do about it.

Once we do make it through this winter, though, we’ll know that we can handle just about anything.
