“Bless You Boys” blog editor and former Marquette Mining Journal sportswriter Kurt Mensching, writing in the Detroit News, makes the case that Tigers mound great Jack Morris doesn't own Hall of Fame credentials.

Former pitcher Jim Kaat disagrees, noting Morris “was the best pitcher in the American League in the '80s. He helped three teams win World Series, particularly the Twins in '91.

Kaat, talking to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, added “They can hang their hat on the ERA thing all they want (Morris' career earned-run average was 3.90). But Jack (254 victories) was the kind of guy that all he wanted to do was win 6-4, 6-5. He didn't care what his ERA was.”

The bottom line is it’s always good to see a season come to an end and give yourself the opportunity to reflect on changes you made and things we need to work on in the off-season.

“We just didn’t achieve what we wanted to achieve. We’ve got to dig deep in this off-season and come out swinging in testing in Palm Beach in January, roll out here for the Winternationals and start the 2014 season off on the right foot.”

Kingsford grads Ryan O’Dette and Andy Mattord are mechanics for Tasca ...
